Re: May Arrivals and Departures 2015
New to the forum, recommended by my brother's mother in law, who used this site when they emigrated to Oz.
Who: Me (Rhys)
Departing from: Melbourne (spent a week here visiting my brother)
When: Tomorrow (11th May)
Arriving: Wellington
When: Tomorrow.
Moving over for work, but don't know anyone else, so more than willing to meet people for a beer to share experiences.

Thank you MrsF!
No idea where I'll be living yet, employer is paying for a hotel for two weeks, so first task is to find somewhere to live!
I'll be working in the CBD, so looking for a 6 month solution nearby so that I can get my bearings.

lots of places to looking at then, dependent on cost and what sort of things you are looking for when not working.

Re: May Arrivals and Departures 2015
I would like to get out more in the evenings, have a few drinks or some nice food every now and again.
I've been looking for fully furnished apartments but they seem expensive for what they offer.. I know there isn't an ikea out there but is there an equivalent that I can purchase some cheap furniture (bed, sofa etc) until I get more established?
I won't have a car for a while until I sell my property back home so needs to be walking distance or good access to public transport and shops.
Budget is somewhere around $500 pw.

you'd be looking at places like The Warehouse or Briscoes (who are always having sales, so never buy unless there is one as there will be one in the not to distant future).
What visa are you coming on?, really would advise to possibly not burn your bridges until you are sure its for you.

OK thanks I'll take a look!
I've got a work to residence visa, so will be giving it the full two years before I decide if it's for me or not. Unless something drastic happens. It's something I've had my mind set on for a long time.
Can't afford to rent my property whilst I'm away, not enough profit in it to cover any maintenance. If it doesn't work out I always have my parents to go back to.
My Employer has been very supportive so far, so can't complain

Re: May Arrivals and Departures 2015
We are hoping to arrive in Auckland on the 9th June from Bristol, UK. We are in the final stages just completed our medicals and awaiting results. Once we have this we can apply for the visa's and book tickets! I am arriving with my family wife and three children. The two boys are 17, 19 and 12 year old girl. We will be looking at properties in the Takanini suburb of Auckland. If anybody has similar aged kids and would like to meet up who are in the same situation then that would be great.
