Making the dream a reality!

Making the dream a reality!
Hello everyone
My Hubby & I are working hard to make our dream of living in NZ a reality. We've been thinking about it for a few years, but the intent began in ernest in October this year.
We need for 1 of us to be offered a job in order to qualify, perferably my husband, his skills are unusual but not on the skills shortage list, hence the need for a job for the Visa to be approved.
We came within touching distance a few weeks ago when a potential employer got cold feet at the last minute. We hope we'll have better luck in January when we'll go for another big push.
Our preferred location is Christchurch, although we'll consider other areas. We fell in love with NZ back in 2008, and we also took our relationship to the next level on that trip, Hubby proposed at the Hooker Glacier with an INCREDIBLE blue sky view of Mount Cook in the background. We came back last year on Honeymoon and decided that if we could, we'd return permanently.
We're a couple in our 30's, no kids, love Rugby, walking & old fashioned pubs (where the the music is at a level you can hold a conversation! and the beer is good).
I look forward to meeting people here, i'll have lots of questions, but hopefully will also be able to help others along the way.

Hello and welcome,
I only joined the other day as we have just submitted a permanent visa request but things are moving along quite quickly.
Good luck in getting a job offer!
We went over last year and thoroughly enjoyed it aswell.

Thanks everyone. I'm sure I will have lots of questions. Focusing at the moment on getting through what will 'hopefully' be our last Christmas in the UK for a while!!

Hello and a big welcome to the New Zealand section of BE from the Consierges in Spain.
You will find excellent information in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading.
BE Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font. Also there are Consierges who can support and guide you.
Please contact me if I can give you any further help.
