As others have suggested, I take it you have tried Friends Reunited and Facebook and places like that already?

typing in R Burrows brings up 43 results. Perhaps drop them all a line or phone call.

It gives you advice on how to search for someone.

If you know your friends date of birth , then you could do an online search of the NZ electoral rolls.
