Hi, I have recently just moved to Christchurch from Scotland and am still getting to know the area and what there is here. Apart from the main superstores like Countdown etc where can you buy toiletries? I am looking for a NZ equivalent of Boots in the UK.

There isn't one
Best bet might be one of the larger "Life Pharmacy" stores

Nothing, absolutely nothing that compares to Boots. You just have to mostly rely on supermarkets, shop online from overseas and/ or shop around for specifics depending on what you want.
Farmers is okay for higher end / Department store type beauty counter stuff, The Warehouse or K-Mart sometimes okay for basics and make-up.
Life Pharmacy is really only an option for medicinal purposes, or if they have a special offer on beauty counters, or otherwise you'll need a second mortgage.

Ok, thanks for this information. Think it is going to take a while to settle and find everything.

There's a Body Shop in the Westfield Centre in Riccarton. While not a Boots, it does sell familiar toiletries.

Then when you've had a look around Life Pharmacy and picked yourself up off the floor having seen the prices...
Try Postie for discounted make-up and some toiletries - a bit hit and miss, but much cheaper than the usual NZ suspects. They have had some Boots No.7 stuff but it comes and goes.

This site was mentioned on Seven Sharp the other evening - the prices look reasonable. https://www.pharmacydirect.co.nz/

Hi Jessica,
I haven't lived in Nz for a while or been back for a visit in a couple of years (in Oz at the moment), I have forgotten but do they have Priceline over there? They have that here in Australia, it is no where near as good as Boots, but better than just the supermarkets.
When I was doing the backpackers thing in the Uk more than 20 years ago, I wish I could have taken Boots back with me, nothing like it !
Hope you are settling well.
Michelle

Here's a few of my favourite online shopping haunts; you can usually get free shipping if you buy a few things together.
https://www.cultbeauty.co.uk/
https://www.lookfantastic.com/
http://www.feelunique.com/
https://nz.strawberrynet.com
Some other more local ones are not as cheap:
https://www.sephora.nz/
https://www.adorebeauty.com.au/
Discover the best selection of beauty products | MECCA
Amazon.com and .co.uk also worth a look if you can find places that will ship to NZ - even with shipping it can sometimes be cheaper than buying local

You can try this place, better than Boots IMO.

Australian but they ship to NZ. Some prices are much lower.
Lived in Asia for the last 7 or so years, find Boots and Sephora to be ridiculously expensive, don't see the appeal in either of them. Sephora in Australia is also expensive, good choice and some exclusives but they only sell at retail prices which make them expensive.
