Worse places to live than Auckland in my book. |

" Auckland's incessant rain, the fact that everybody is in such a hurry, traffic jams and an obsession with cars, clothing and money"
You can't beat a good bit of generalisation & Auckland bashing !! What a load of rubbish - I've been here for 5 years and don't relate to that description at all... even the incessant rain quote, it does rain heavily but seems to clear quickly and then the sun comes out. The traffic is pants if you have to get into the city during peak times ( and I do unfortnately ) but I guess that's down to choice as to where you to live, and work. I do know one person who's obsessed with cars but every one else thinks he's sa a aad ! |

I found Kiwis quite a friendly bunch overall, certainly more friendly to new comers than I have perceived Aussies to be. I'd give it at least a good 12 months or so before thinking of moving. Remember you have to get out and about to have any chance of making new friends, anywhere. Other parts of NZ may appear more laidback and easier to meet new people because their lives and work commitments may not be as hectic. Auckland is after all the economic and commercial hub of the country and an unfortuante by product of such places thesedays is that many get too caught up with status and materialism. |
