Letting Agents/Areas to Look At!!

Hi
My wife has just accepted a job offer and agreed to start work in October, she is a health proffessional and there is relocation support available but can anyone steer us to good areas to look at lettings, and letting agent sites?
She will need to be able to commute easily to Middlemore Hospital, Manukau.
Thanks

Congrats on job offer.
for rentals and sales and for lots else http://www.trademe.co.nz/property is a good place to start.
there you will get listings from lots of agents, also http://www.nz.open2view.com/rental is good but usually has the same as trademe.

Re: Letting Agents/Areas to Look At!!

Manukau is in South Auckland which has become unpopular because of crime and social problems in recent years. My husband's family used to live in Papatoetoe and Middlemore Hospital was their local hospital. The west of Auckland is referred to as the 'wild west' because of police car chases. The north shore of Auckland is expensive for property because the people who live there kinda like it that way. The north shore of Auckland, in my opinion, is not such a big deal. Once you are away from central Auckland, suburbs is all you've got. Sure there are shopping centres such as the Albany Mega Centre on the north shore which also has a cinema. There's North Harbour Sports Stadium in that district too. My sister in law lives in Pinehill/Oteha and commutes to Central Auckland and back by bus each day. Her kids go to local schools which they walk to. Her husband drives to his work each day.

My mother in law lives in Pakauranga. There's shopping centres nearby at Pakauranga Mall, Botany and Sylvia Park. You can go by ferry into/from Auckland across the harbour from Half Moon Bay.

If you live on the north shore of Auckland you will have to commute across the Auckland Harbour Bridge everyday. It's a huge traffic jam both morning and evening. They built and opened the Victoria Park tunnel last year so traffic leaving Auckland goes in one direction. The tunnel does not go under the bridge, so there's still two way traffic across the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

Auckland city buses have their own dedicated lane on the motorway into/out of Auckland which cars are not allowed to use. Oh the joy of cruising past stationery traffic whilst on a bus in a clear bus lane !

Have a mate who's a madwife at Middlemore and she lives in Dannemora. I have no idea what it's like but she seems happy enough there.

I don't think the North Shore would be that suitable for you simply from a traffic point of view. Just my opinion.
