Default Let's not forget the penguins

Easy to do the big 5 when you visit sunny Dunedin, Queen of the South.

1. Yellow eyed penguins
2. Blue/ little (in Australia, fairy) penguins
3. Fur seals
4. Giant albatrosses
5. Sea lions

All on the Otago Peninsula and also in the environs of Dunedin.

Plus you get far better beer on tap than in dirty old Auckland.

Fair enough list there Don but you forgot to mention attending a game of rugby at The Brook. Even if your not a die hard rugby fan the atmosphere at The Brook is something to be experienced.
Hope your not talking about Speights when you talk of better beer on tap. That stuff is the pits. Think one is better off trying the water out of the tap outside the brewery myself!

Visited the Speights brewery with Southerner a year or so ago and the beer there and in the Brewery Tap pub was excellent. Bit of a fan of Speights, not a bad drop at all when it's looked after or alternatively you can't go wrong with the bottled stuff.

There must have been a reason Speights led the Dunedin charge and now supplies half of NZ's beer? Quality is a good possibility.

Not doubting the quality its just the taste, a little on the sweet side for me Have to also speights isnt the only beer they produce there. OH is rather fond of Speights old dark but it was way too strong & bitter for my taste buds

You can get all of those, apart from the albatross, in Wellington. Blue penguins from Eastbourne to Turakarae Head - there is even a warning sign about them crossing the road - seals at Pencarrow, sea lions around Red Rocks. Yellow-eyed penguins around Cape Terawhiti.

On Speights, knowing Dave Speight it has as much to do with marketing as it does with quality (and the quality is high).
