Leonids meteor show. 17th Nov.

For anyone interested the Leonid meteor shower should should peak tonight starting around midnight. If the sky is clear it may be worth getting comfy for a bit of shooting star spotting. Look to the North East.

I've just read about that and was trying to find out the times for here. I'm sorry I missed it. Pity!

I saw ONE!! around 1am. I did read an article last night that said it would be poor viewing for us, as peak time would be around sunrise time & before that light from the moon would obscure viewing. I had a look again at 4.30 for around 20mins, didn't see any:thumbdown:
We enjoy watching the Space Station when it comes over us, you can find times on Nasa site, at least that is a certainty:sunglasses: (depending on how clear the sky is of course)

Cool, never thought of looking out for it. Does it move fast? Can you see anything if you use binoculars?

It does move fast. We don't see much, just a bright light, but you may with more powerful ones?
It isn't always visible when it passes over, depends on where the sun is & what time of night it is. We've usually seen it early evening.
It's just cool knowing what your looking at!!!

I can usually go outside any night of the year & see a few in a short period of time, but when there are supposed to be hundreds an hour....nothing:confused:

Maybe they're all ganging up waiting for a big show on 21/12/12;)

I know. I waited and watched and waited and watched. Not one measley one, let alone 100 in an hour . I then concluded they were all firing off just under the horizon. :sneaky:
