Land of the long grey bleugh!
I know, we're not allowed to mention it in the scorchio thread, it's not quite at the Wain or Woodburner stage yet but OMG the weather is just so bleugh. Windy grey and on the cusp of more wain here in Auckers this long weekend.
Considering this is supposed to be summer, I have had to rummage around and find socks almost every night this week and had my fleece on once or twice.

Re: Land of the long grey bleugh!
On Thursday, we had all the windows open, fans on to keep cool, temp peaked at almost 31 deg.
On Friday all the windows were shut & we had heaters on for a couple of hours in the evening to keep warm!!! Temp dropped to 15 deg in the day & 2.3 deg at night!!!
Back to warm again yesterday & today, but it's blowing a gale out there!!

I was looking at the hottest and coldest places yesterday. Hottest was Timaru Airport 28c and coldest was Taupo Aiport 0.6c Auckland was 12.9c overnight, no wonder we're all feeling cold.
We've barely made it to 20 today and typically the sun decides to come out at 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon.

Although I did scorch my nose today. It was more wind scorch though.

I bumped into a couple of mates waiting for a friends ashes in a pub just south of Taihape on Saturday. They'd had frost on their bikes when they got up that morning!

Been back a little over 24hours and very changeable weather so far. Yesterday was very hot and scorching. Today is grey , rainy and a bit chilly. No frost down here though!

Fingers crossed for a lovely autumn. NZ's pointless without summer.

Re: Land of the long grey bleugh!
Nice turn of phrase!!
I agree, it's only the thought of summer in between that keeps us going from one dull, wet winter to the next.
We do appear to have some intermittent sun today and the temperatire is up a notch. I think I may have heard a bored and lonely cicada trying to raise some mates to join him.

We have a little bit of blue sky here though it's still a bit chilly. Last night was freezing, had to put a blanket back on the bed as well as being all wrapped up in long pyjamas and socks

And there I was thinking it was just me.
38C at work wed evening, by 02:00 there was sleet in the rain. Woke up to snow t'other side of Port Hills, at 320m.
Chamonix and Val D'isere were never like this in the 2nd half of their summer!
btb, the bump count is now considerably higher.

was up at Waikanae beach today and although cloud covered it was still warm enough for the kids to mess about in the sea.
