Lake Taupo info needed...
Hi all,
I have the possibility of a job offer in Taupo and was wondering if anyone had any first hand experience of the area. It looks lovely from what I can gleem from the web but I know that looks can be deceiving.
Also does anyone have any info on rental prices in the area? Ive had a look through Trade Me but there doesnt seem to be much on offer. I'll be coming over on my own but I'd still be looking for 2+ bedrooms, any thoughts on what I would expect to pay?
Thanks

We've been there on weekends away a few times. Great area for outdoorsy stuff - fishing, hiking, biking, skiing etc. Gets quite cold in winter (hence skiing I guess). The lake itself is huge, seems more like the sea on a rough day. They're building a bypass so the traffic will be a lot quieter soon. Generally seems quite nice.
I just did a search for Taupo under trademe rental properties and got 120 results. Decent 2-3 bedroom places seem to start around $260

We booked a bach for a week, then went looking once we were here.
You get a much better choice once you're in town, and you would be in in days.
If you get here soon, my sister in law needs a place to stay, she can't bring her dog here!
