Lack of options in a very small economy
 

As NZ is a land of 5 employers and 500 recruitment agencies, I would like to work in the recruitment industry.

I am passionate about recruitments (especially technical and IT recruitments).

Also, a good technical background (formal education in technology/engineering + experience working for several niche globally renowned organisations) will certainly enable me to do well in a recruitment role.

Having worked for 3+ years in NZ, I understand the job market well, contacts growing rapidly, in-depth understanding of various tools/technologies as well as the mindset of the Hiring Managers and their main concerns plus Excellent relationship management and communication skills.

Any senior recruiters within this forum?

It is a very different skill set to being a successful recruiter, then being a IT specialist. Typically recruiters come from sales backgrounds.

I think you might struggle with the ACTUAL realities of the industry, if this is what your opinion is.

I am currently working as a Pre-Sales Consultant.

I possess good understanding of technology and even better understanding of people - as well as business acumen and social networking skills.

Pre Sales Consultant? (Makes a sound like a Frenchman on a castle wall).

As a graduate of the IBM sales academy, there is a big difference between the technical liaison and the guy who gets the deal signed.

My thoughts exactly. Having a son who works in that industry I couldn't even by bothered to respond to it.

It is a FACT - 1000 jobs on Seek translate to less than 100 real jobs actually - the same job advertised by multiple agencies.

Every Tom, Dick and Harry runs a recruitment shop in New Zealand.

I once applied for a job directly - no response. A few later, I received a call from a recruiter for the same job opening. She told me " My mom is the HR, she will definitely consider " my candidate " first - hats off to the mother daughter love !!!

Do you have any facts to back that up or is it just another troll?

I have recruited several employees for my organisation while in NZ. I have never used an agency, we (govt) always advertise direct on seek. I have to say, if your application letters bear any resemblance to your posts on here, I'd never shortlist you.

The given thread 's purpose was to find like-minded people who have ventured into recruitment and have successfully utilized their experience/skills to find " the right man for the right job ".

However, all I find is the " Tall Poppy Syndrome " phenomenon.

One is considered innocent until proven guilty. I do not understand why the same logic does not apply in this forum: truthful unless proven liar.

Even some job adverts mention either some previous experience in recruitment or good understanding of the technologies involved.

Anyways, some recruitment firms have offered me commission based work - I seek full time roles though.

Probably something to do with the tone and content of your posts which do not come across at all well.

Listening to what others say & learning from that is a skill you know. If you cannot translate even the simple comments that have come onto this thread , some from people who know about this occupation, then how on earth would you be able to interpret the more complex nature of real live candidates .

Regardless, your opening post read like a mini CV with a hope of attracting a recruiting job from any recruiters looking in . As such this thread really belongs in the 'Jobs Wanted' area.
