LA Stopovers

Stopovers in LA, where would anyone recommend to stay and what to see. We are myself, hubby and son 19yr old, not wealthy just working folk, but would like something decent. We don't want Disney or central LA, maybe near the beach. Any ideas please. We are wanting to stay for maybe 1 week.

Can't recommend anywhere to stay, but some of the things to do would have to include a studio tour. And see Catalina Island. It's supposed to be really beautiful.

Agreed. Catalina is stunning. You get there by a boat which leaves from Long Beach, takes an hour, costs US$20 return. Try to go midweek as it is a very popular weekend break for Californians.

Catalina has no cars, great beaches and diving to die for. Next time we fly downunder we will definitely go there (again).

Do you like shopping? If so LA has some great shopping. There is an amazing outlet centre at Cabazon, on the road to Palm Springs. Ontario Mills on the same road it is also quite possible to spend a day at.

Beaches - you can't beat Manhattan and Hermosa beaches. They are just gorgeous and hanging out there is just the best. Your son will enjoy the beach babes.

STAY AWAY FROM - Hollywood. It is a tourist trap sh1thole and is the sole reason why so many tourists say the don't like LA.

LA is a great city, I have been there 7 times and would live there if I could for a few years.

Cheers

Buzzy
