I loved this article on the NZ Herald website. Particularly the bit that describes poor dress sense as "...weird-coloured shoes, light-coloured jeans or jumpers of any kind".

Oh there was some glide on shoe paint stuff you could buy years ago. It was quite the thing to do up your dying footwear with the stuff. You know, paint them silver and add 8 diff colours of glitter, that sort of thing.
