Default just beginning.....

Hi, I'm Chris, a gas engineer/ plumber and my wife, Jo, and 2 dogs and a cat are just starting the immigration process, we have signed up with the emigration group and are sorting the application now, we have no children so are very flexible to the final destination in NZ, and obviously work is a large factor as to where we will end up, so any help and advice will be greatly recieved.

I am self employed here and i specialise in renewable energies, solar panels etc, i also have a large amount of experience in solid fuel, stoves, open fires etc.

i hope i have given you all enough info as i am a noob to all this ha ha
kindest regards C

I would suggest unless you have a complicated application you go via the DIY route and save yourself lots of money.
Most of us on BE have done it ourselves, its very doable, and there are lots of us able to give advice if you get lost in the paperwork!
First thing to do is to familiarise yourself with Immigration New Zealand, decide which visa suits you best and take it from there.

Hi all, If old bulls application is dependant on securing a job offer he should concentrate on that first, We've been trying to come out for 2 years on Residancy visa, since earth quakes all agencies and construction companies seem to be waiting for rebuild to kick off before recruiting staff, I've suggested coming out for job interviews but been told not to bother yet as there aren't the jobs there, please correct me if I'm wrong but I thaught I'd put my ore in. By the way I'm construction site engineer / manager please pm me with job adverts etc if i've missed any.
Good luck oldbull hope we can all meet up on other side soon.

i am the main applicant, we are going through the qualification verification paperwork at the mo, there is a lot to do, very repetative but all worth it fortunatly the OH is doing most of that ha ha, getting copies made and then certified, we thought we should be able to do that ourselves, easy enough but making time is a night mare so the agency are doing that for us, they require the originals any way so its just as easy for them.....

Actually. I'd tend to agree with the others about doing it yourself unless there are health/character difficulties. It takes the same amount of time to 'sort' paperwork regardless of whether you pay an agency to redo the stuff you've already done or not. Certified copies, for instance, are easily obtained . You drop the originals off at a solicitors/notary public . They do the business. You give them a few GBP and pick them up later.

I'd be interested to hear from you ,what you know about the - 'how to emigrate to NZ' - process and also what you know about how the plumbing/gas trade is here.

From your post I gather you haven't a job to go to. Do you see yourself getting residency to come to NZ and then finding work?

I'm just trying to get a feel for what you already know .
