Default Just been approved for Citizenship!

Have just received letter saying our Citizenship application has been approved. We just need to attend a cermony now for it to be granted, will find out when in about 3 weeks time when dates have been set.

So far its taken 6.5 months and lots of $

Citizenship application cost us $460 per adult and $230 per child, so our bill was $1380.
When we apply for our NZ passports it will cost $150 per adult and $80 per child, $460 for us.

So our total bill will be $1840 :scared:

On top of that our kids UK passports expire this year so got to get those too

That sounds comparable to the US prices. Many congratulations for your whole family on your impending citizenship!

5 years. But if you applied for PR before 21 April 2005 the 3 year rule still applies provided you apply for citizenship before 21 April 2010.

Watt,
Please may I ask why you have decided to become citizens?
What benefits do you think you will gain?
There is no criticism in this question I am just being nosey and it something that really I have only just started thinking about.

Mostly because once we are citizens all 4 of us for the rest of our lives will have the freedom to stay in/move to/move from for as long as and whenever we want to the Uk & NZ with no red tape. It also gives us the freedom for any of us at any time to go to Oz and live and work freely as the NZ-OZ agreement stands at the moment.
Not that we have any particular plans to use our new found freedoms but never say never. The idea that we can travel between and live in 3 different countries with little or minimal red tape is appealing.

Well done we are just going to send ours off this week and feel lucky that we only have had to wait 3 years.I didnot realise that we had to pay extra for passports. It will be nice to feel that we belong as we really like it here.
