Re: Just applied for Citizenship today.
Hey Vitalstatistix, have you heard anything from DIA yet?
I got a letter in the mail today saying I had been assigned a case officer and that the anticipated processing time is 4 months. That's encouraging news considering what they told me about having an increase in applicant numbers

That's interesting, my letter came with my stuff. I guess it depends on your case officer. I thought OH's stuff would be with mine as I sent it off in one envelope . Ours not to reason why.....

I know The individual envelope thing is a bit mental.

Re: Just applied for Citizenship today.
Does anyone know of any person who has been refused citizenship and why that might have been? I assumed it was a given so long as you have kept your nose clean since you got PR. Isn't it??

Re: Just applied for Citizenship today.
I was just thinking mine may take a bit longer to be assigned a CO since I sent them a couple of documents which need to be translated, and that my passport was issued in another country than my birth one, so had to add a bunch of papers to support that as well
I'm not pressed for time though, no plans for international travel until next year, but it'll be good to see my documents back, so I know they've started working on it

We can apply in a couple of months
We'll probably have issues with the Mrs because she was born in Australia but has a British passport. Well she has an Aussie one as well but in her maiden name.

Re: Just applied for Citizenship today.
Not sure that you will TBH. There's an area on the form that asks for other citizenships, marriage certificate etc. & passport numbers. All very straight-forward. Good luck

Re: Just applied for Citizenship today.
I got my Citizenship grant letter in the mail today Took a bit longer than yours Vitalstatistix but got there in the end.
Their 4 month timeline is very generic, I applied on 15 April and got my documents back at the end of May, because some added paperwork I had to send in with the application (translations and other citizenships certificates) so that took a bit more time to process.
It was actually surprisingly easy to apply, much less hassle than the immigration process Just waiting for the ceremony date now.

Well worth the wait. OH is still waiting to hear, he's rather p****d off as he lived in NZ for 4 years as a teenager He emailed his case officer last week, who admitted that there had been a cock-up with our applications having been separated. So he should hear soon .
Where will your ceremony be held? Ours will be in Orewa.

I haven't received a letter from The Ceremonies Team to give me a date. I live in Auckland CBD so it may be at the City Hall. When's yours?
