That was my impression also, from doing some shopping and secretly photographing the meat and veg aisles. I daren't say anything though as after reading the forum, I could no longer believe my lying eyes.

Talking of UK/NZ shops. We were just watching QI and their buzzers are saying "cashier number 7 please", "cashier number 9" please etc. What a blast from the past especially Boots, M&S and the Post Office.....we never have to use them in our part of NZ. We just walk up to the counter and get served!

Yes, you still get them in some post offices. Most of the supermarkets have self service now, so the air is full with a chorus (or a round if you remember singing those at primary school) of computerised voices exclaiming "unexpected item in the bagging area.." and other annoyances.

Really fancy a steak and cheese pie now..

We have a brand new quake proof Countdown in Spitfire Square near the Airport. We go to check out and they open a new till if there are none available and also pack and return shopping to our trundler...the point is I actually go with the wife here, we resorted to home delivery before NZ as it was such a horrible experience....Ha ha I had forgotten all about the "cashier number 7 please" I wonder if they all used the same tape...

The only time I have to queue at the shops is when the trains have just emptied at 5.30 or just before school pickup! Love the Pak n Save Shop and Go system. When are YOU going?! lol De-railing? Moi?
