Job hunting trip to NZ !!
Hi all
After many many failed attempts at finding a job for my hubby over the net, we decided he should arrange interviews and come out! I would love to come out and make it a reccie, hunt down schools etc but we just can't afford for us all to fly out and pay for accomodation
sooooooo can anyone point us in the right direction ?! He's looking for cheap digs anywhere around Auckland way, but he'll no doubt hire a car so will be pretty flexible!
He'll be flying into Auckland and hunting jobs down in North Island - Whangarei, Bay of Islands, Bay of Plenty, Rotorua all jump out but are these where the IT jobs are ?? He's a Product Manager/Purchaser in IT so needs/wants a job in this field but any others will do so long as its IT.
Thanks for any help, and if I've missed anything important out, then please do tell me - we're new to this lol

Will be a small amout of IT jobs in the areas you mention - maybe why he's struggling so far? Lots of IT stuff going on in Auckland and Wellington though.
In fact doing a quick search on it.seek.co.nz there isnt any IT roles in your preffered areas.

Doesn't mean that you won't get a job somewhere littler, just that you may not get it quickly.

Perhaps you could try looking at a major city and see if any employers would let you work from home a few days a week.That would allow you to live further away and only have a couple of commutes a week. Easy enough to do that in IT these days.

Just been on www.avis.com looking for other stuff. You can hire a car with Avis from $20 a day on a deal where they are looking for people to take cars back up North for them.
I know you're talking about top of North Island but if you do decie to widen your search, this could be a cheap option. The only downside I can see is that you don't necessarily know what you're gonna get before hand
