Jeremy Clarkson on NZ

"New Zealand causes anyone to question the wisdom of God. Because if he really were all-knowing, children at Christmas time today would be singing 'Oh little town of Wellington' and people would not cease from mental fight until Jerusalem had been built in Auckland's green and pleasant land.

"Jesus would have been from Palmerston North.

"I'm in New Zealand right now and it really is absolutely stunning; bite-the-back-of-your-hand-to-stop-yourself-from-crying-out lovely."

Apparently the mayor of Palmerston North has locked himself in the bathroom with a copy of Clarkson's biography and a box of tissues.

He's been well-advised on how to curry favour in Godzone lol.

It is scenically stunning though.

Personally I think he's an obnoxious moron, but this time he has got it right.

He's gone up in my estimation.

Not that it was all that difficult...

I like him. I find him hilarious, especially when he starts to 'spout'. It gets better the angrier he gets. His books are a hoot, too.

I do like to listen to someone who think 'PC' stands for 'Presumptuous Cobblers'. :hysterical:

I like Jeremy Clarkson a lot. Especially when he made comments about the stop start roads of Bournemouth

Plus any comedian that despises the Political Correctness brigade earns 50,000 brownie points in my estimation

I 'spect half of NZ would be wetting their pants cos JC said vaguely nice things about Godzone - he is afterall, placed right up there on a gilded pedestal as some kind of a demi god in this country, with a huge following of black vested bogans and petrolheads that worship in the temple of Top Gear.

I dislike the 'new' TG. Pandering to non petrol heads IMO.. Kate thinks it is hilarious. Enough said. I preferred the old school TG with Wilson and Needell. Car programmes should not be funny. They should solely be about the machinations of the motor car (and as it left the factory) not fronted by wanna be comedians.

Nor should they be about turning an XJS into a locomotive, a Triumph Herald into a yacht or even a Multipla into a Rover. Call me old fashioned I know. I realise the new TG is a huge commercial success...don't make it right though eh?
