No offense to Jamie, he's done well on TV and with his own brand but his restaurants are a bit overrated, not worth all the attention imo.

I don't like him, just something about him doesn't gel with me, don't know what it is...

I wonder what the prices will be
His restaurant in Newquay was 50/50. We had an enjoyable night there but I couldn't justify the cost compared to Gordon Ramseys or Hester Blumenthals. The Fat Duck is an absolute must if you want a unique delicious meal!

I wouldn't get too excited.
It's a licensing deal from what I see in the article rather than Jamie personally thinking Wellington looks a nice place to open up.
He may front up for the opening to drive the publicity but pretty sure he won't be cooking anyone's meals there on a regular basis.
Bit like Restaurant Brands NZ who own the license rights to operate all the KFC, Starbucks, Pizza Hut and Carl's Jnr operations in NZ.
Globalisation, don't ya love it!

Pacific Restaurant Group, licensees for Jamie's Italian

If only I had Upwards of £1 million then I could reply to their call for franchisees and own my very own Jamie's Italian too....

I'd open one in Italy, just to show how farcical the whole thing is. Given Pacific Restaurant Brands reputation I'd imagine the secret ingredient in dishes will most likely be saliva.

I'm a big Jamie Oliver fan. I can see that a lot of his stuff is just a franchise, but I think at the heart of it is a lot better than some faceless corporate crapola that abounds. There is a tupperware style thing that is in the UK 'Jamie at Home' hosting parties for housewifes to buy £70 heart-shaped chopping boards that is a bit silly, but I admire the bloke immensely. I don't think that he has to do half of what he does do, considering he's already worth a fortune - school dinners, promoting healthy eating etc. Fair play to him I say.

This would be Jamie Oliver Holdings LTD. the CEO of which also serves as CEO of Virgin Cosmetics and Restaurant Group plc or the man who advertises for Sainsbury's?

The restaurant will do a great job of enticing visitors to Wellington. And in doing so they will discover some great restaurants and bars.
A very much overlooked and undervalued city. Has some great opportunities for those looking for a start in NZ.
Doubt he will be the full time chef, so its like any other new restaurant.
I would like to see a Chelsea and Nadia ....something and spice"

They are also scheduled to open on Queen Street this year too. In the old Bank of NZ building.

hi from the frozen white north I was pointed tae this post..
well my nephew was a experienced chef who worked for this cheeky chappie for a number of years and in his own words MR O was so far up his a... that he must have had a problem breathing.and the TV persona is not the real guy.
After a number of years my nephew was headhunted to work for the" sweary one" and says that the difference was night and day and he suprised me by telling me MR R ..was a pleasure to work for.
