Re: Its a bit windy
Got my wind up torches ready, extra batteries for camp lamp, etc. Going to take down/bring in garden ornaments/lamps and fold down the wooden garden chairs and turn table upside down, just in case. We're east Auckland and not far from the beach. Also, don't forget everyone to have full charge on your phones and laptops. Best to be prepared.
Mum is supposed to be flying back to UK Sunday lunchtime from here, so we will need to keep an eye out on flights, that's if we can drive to the airport in any case

And then you have the issue of reaching the airport if there is any flooding or trees down, etc
stay safe. Can't believe New Zealand is getting a higher Cat cyclone than we have had this year in Queensland!

Thanks.
Crazy isn't it.
We are only about 30 mins from airport but we'll just have to wait and see how bad it is and try and get info about the flight. It's just a case of waiting and keeping up with info as much as possible.

The deadly cyclone is expected to hit northern New Zealand tonight, with the brunt of the storm to be felt across the North Island tomorrow as it tracks southwest just off the coast of the country, before hitting the South Island on Sunday.
Severe weather warnings have been issued for Northland, Auckland, Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Nelson and Marlborough.
Northland could expect 80mm-100mm of rain by tomorrow afternoon, MetService said.
The rain should spread quickly southwards, totalling more than 100mm in Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and Gisborne by Sunday morning.
Also in the upper South Island, Marlborough and Nelson look set to receive the most intense rainfall, with up to 170mm accumulating in the Nelson ranges from tomorrow afternoon till noon on Sunday.

Had brill time at WOMAD - we really got lucky with the weather and only got wet in one short shower and had a few blowy hours this morning. Fingers crossed it misses the south island too. Time for bed - yawn!
