Singapore Airlines - wonderful people. I phoned and explained the situation and they unbooked and rebooked my tickets to give me an extension to pay. And an extra 10kilos of luggage each. And then they wished me good luck with it, and said not to worry, it would all work out. Bless them!

So if D doesn't go through with it at least we're not losing £600 of admin fees on the tickets. That's a huge weight off my mind.

Only 48 hours to go till we know whether or not we're boarding that plane. That makes it 48 hours and 5 minutes until I am incredibly inebriated, one way or another!

Jan, I think we should all stand by, glasses in hand, to have a 'group celebration' on Friday, the amount of people on here all thinking of you must help somewhat to will that woman and her pen........or boot and ar*e....one way or another you'll get there!

Count me in on that party Debbie...

I reckon if we all stand in a 'cyber' circle, hold hands and chant it might do some good too...failing that, tell us where she lives Jan and we'll send an 'escort' round to make sure she gets to the solicitors on time!!

Talk about making you sweat til the last minute...it just isn't right! Moving house is stressful enough in its own right without 'avoidable' stress being thrown in on top...we are all behind you Jan (and you too Nessie!) and I just hope that it is all wrapped up for you both as soon as can be...just keep looking at the bigger picture if you can...six months down the line this will all just seem like a means to an end...roll on NZ...

Hi all, Hi Jan

Not posted for a while. Our thoughts are with you Jan and if it's any consolation it's all going pear shaped for us too.

Everything was going fine till 29th August. House sale going through, shippers booked, Mel offered a job! yeehah!
Our lovely cat died the day before the shippers came.
30 August shippers arrive, everything being packed, then a phone call saying competion date is delayed, and still is! Apparently the buyers solicitor has been sacked and we have to go through the whole process again!
We are now living with Cathy's mum, 11 people in one house is not good. ( albeit a big house!) Our stuff is on a container somewhere in the north waiting to be shipped. :scared:

We have also been told today that our visas may be another month even though we have a job offer. not sure about that though.
So, as things stand, Mel has a job in NZ but no visa, we have a house but no furniture, we have no UK income, and we live in a mad house with 5 adults and 6 kids!
And I miss my cat!

Oh blumming heck Cathy...

Have you been given another completion date to go on yet then?? House selling shouldn't be this difficult...I think the Scots have got it right with their system...maybe we could just move the border down a bit on the maps....

Sorry to hear about your cat too...our dog died earlier this year and I'm ashamed to say that at times I still rub my hands together at the money he saved us by not having to ship him ...we all loved him to bits but I had been plotting his demise jokingly for months before his death in an attempt to avoid having to spend thousands to ship him out...moral to that story is 'be careful what you wish for!!'...

I thought if you had a job offer that you got 'bumped' to the top of the pile?? It might come through sooner than they say though - they always over-estimate just in case don't they...fingers crossed for you...

So, as things stand, Mel has a job in NZ but no visa, you have a house but no furniture, you have no UK income, and you are living in a mad house with 5 adults and 6 kids and missing your cat...things can only get better...or in the words of that tall scary looking blonde bird...'the only way is up'...

Will send you some positive vibes too Cathy and really hope that you are on your way soon...

Hi Caroline

I have to say that our dog did the same thing early on this year! then the rabbit, then the poor cat! Bobs, the cat, was the only one I wanted to take but she was too old, 15, and we had arranged for her to retire with our close friends in a big house in a meadow. Oh well cie la vie, or not I suppose!
Thanks for the mod Karma chuck. Been thinking of way to get some of that for ages!

"They" reckon the house sale will take another two weeks though, so here's to my Mum!

There are easier ways of getting it you know ...but you really do deserve some at the moment don't you...

Two weeks isn't 'too' bad is it...and thank goodness for your mum...what would we do without them...

What a lot of pearshapedness going on. My thoughts, sympathies and karma (spread permitting) are with you. We need a group hug and more importantly a group drink. I'm in on that one.

Gawd! There must be something in the water, this is happening to so many people. Hope you get sorted soon, can you afford to go over and start the job if you don't complete in time?

No definite news as yet, but I'm seeing that as a good sign - the appointment is still on. I'm feeling fairly optimistic, but don't want to tempt fate. By this time tomorrow we should know, and hopefully by this time in 2 weeks we'll be airborne.

How can you sit and wait for your solicitor? More patience than me! Good luck, keep us updated!

i have been reading your thread with interest as i WAS in a similar position, everything was going so well, i got a pay rise from my future employer in NZ and I'm not even there yet, my residency was approved, our passports came back with the blue stamps, so all ready to book flights then it happened two days before we where due to exchange contracts the buyers pulled out and the reason......could not raise the money and it took 6 weeks to find that out what a poxy system we have, so we are back to square one showing people round again. Have dropped price by £26000 as property is now dropping its all gone Pete tong

Goodness me! Another one! I'm sorry to hear that your house sale has gone pear-shaped too...sent you some Karma to ease the blow a wee bit...and fingers crossed that you find another buyer quickly...house-selling is a pain in the rear end isn't it...

I'm really sorry to hear your news too. We have a 10 year old cat that we won't be able to take with us and our kids are going to miss him like mad. He's an outdoor cat and only comes in for a kip in the winter when it's really cold so I don't think it would be fair to move him. I am concerned what will happen to him though. Our neighbours (three lots of them) have said they will all look after him, feed him and let him in their houses (if he'll go in), but I do feel very very guilty and wonder if I should re-home him but Graham says that would be cruel too as he has so much garden space between all four of our houses......I do not want to tempt fate and have him expiring his ninth life before we depart!!! What would be fantastic is to get a buyer who'll take him on....hmm, wonder if I should put that in the particulars.....

.....Wanted, one moggie loving buyer who will happily pay asking price, will sign on the dots within a week, won't give a fig that I have shelves full of dancing trophies I refuse to hide away (daughters, not mine) and will fall in love with my beautiful lemon dining room and they will NOT open cupboards which my OH stuffed full of cr*p whilst I was at work....wot d'ya think?

We are trying to play safe and telling everyone that we are moving to London and staying with my sister so we can take our time choosing a new house, but the amount of people our kids have told I don't think it'l be too long before the cats out.....pardon my pun!

Good luck to everyone in this totally stressful house selling lark.....one day we'll all larf....
