I voted to reset not resettle! But what choice does nz have? None, cos aussie have the balls to go hardline so under international law nz has to welcome her 'home.' Another question could be 'should nz create a law to strip citizenship to terrorists' (as in what aussie did) and get in quicker next time?

I understand that we have an international obligation to take her back but if she has citizenship in another country and were to act against the interests of NZ then NZ could respond in similar way and revoke her NZ citizenship and send her on her way but I guess that's another long and costly process.

I believe she had duel NZ and OZ citizenship
But she was born in NZ so OZ pulled the pin on her citizenship there, so we're stick with her.

Arden was bleating on the other day and stamping her feet for the cameras, about her disgust at OZ washing their hands of her. But she'll do absolutely nothing about it

As I recall with Mark "Kiwi Jihadi" Taylor they said that if he ever returned he would face prosecution for his association with terrorist organisations.

I thought this when I saw the "Hate Speech" legislation, religion will always be the measure of hate speech. As long as you can walk into any religious establishment and be handed a book that talks about stoning gay people or killing infidels we will never be able to prosecute people for inciting violence in wider society. A tolerance for religion is a tolerance for violence.

The NZ goverment should do what the UK did with Shamina Begum and revoke the isis brides NZ citizenship then she would have no choice but to stay put in Syria, she made her bed in Syria she should lie in it.

You know what always pissed me off about my very dear Christian friend from the US? That she is convinced that you can't be a good, moral person if you do not believe in the Christian God. Now this post equally pisses me off. As if religion necessarily leads to violence and only violence.

They could only do that because she was eligible for citizenship in Bangladesh. However there is nothing to stop New Zealand prosecuting her as they said they would with that other guy who joined ISIS.
I just think it's interesting to juxtapose the violence inherent within religious texts and the government endeavouring to impede what they deem to be "hate speech." It seems obvious to me the test case will be the Abrahamic religions and not a nutjob with a blog.
