Default Insurance while travelling to NZ

Hi

Looking for your usual good advice please. We will be travelling to NZ soon. Previously when we have travelled we have been covered by my husbands annual travel insurance free with his bank account. This account will be closed, so annual policy is gone. What have people done for insurance during travel?

Do we risk none? is holiday insurance even valid - we aren't on holiday after all? Just concerned bearing in mind we will have our worldly belongings with us (well nearly!)

Thanks in advance

Nick and Charlie

Southern Cross in NZ do a good policy for arriving migrants, not the cheapest but v high max claim limits etc. I don't have the URL but google should. We took out a 10-day policy to cover travelling and initial stay until we sorted longer-term insurance
