Initial expenditure
Given this forums general interest in all things NZ financial, I thought I'd post some of our 1st months expenses for people's interest. To clarify, we are a family of 4, youngest is still in nappies but not on formula milk / baby food.
Groceries: $750 for the month - and that has included toiletries / nappies / beer etc with no real attempt at being careful or budgetting and also purchasing some stuff for our emergency stockpile! holiday let: $1900 for the month incl all linen, power, local telephone calls. car purchase: $6500 for a 1997 Nissan Primera with about 30000 miles on clock (will need warrant every 6 months at $35 and registration annually at $200) car insurance - we've paid the annual amount this year while we've got the money - $263 for fully comp, 2 drivers over 25. rental property: $320 per week for 3 bed (1 with ensuite), 2 living, kitchen/diner, utility, double garage, with no whiteware but incl gardener. No need to pay water, rates or buildings insurance. bond was 2 weeks rent (refundable) and letting fee was 1 weeks rent plus GST contents insurance: again paid annual amount $272 telephone / internet: got limbo account for dial up while in holiday let - $27.95 connection fee and then $16.95 per month for 150hrs per month with telecom. In rental property: $45 connection fee for connecting telephone and then $32.85 per month rental (incl free local calls). $99 connection fee for broadband and then $44.95 per month for 1gb download at 24 x speed. May need to spend another $99.95 depending on whether our ADSL modems & filters work. Electric - need to pay $150 bond as no credit references - refundable after 12mths or if we change supplier, we've got a day/night meter so costs will be 21.88c / Kwh daytime (7am-9pm) and 9.02c/Kwh nightime plus 63.88c per day for the cable rental Child care - $32 / day with a discount to $60 / day for the 2 - this does not include a lunch but includes morning / afternoon snacks. Hot meals available at $4.50 each per day. Haircuts - hubby and son (3 1/2) $36 Hope this is helpful to some Vicki |
