Hi we're looking at moving from Oz to Christchurch at the moment. We haven't started the process yet as are trying to fact find at the moment. Can anybody give me any idea what the wages could be for a UNIX admin / Oracle dba post? I appreciate that this is a really vague question but any idea of whether 50,000, 60,000, 70,000 etc is possible would be great. We need to know how it compares to over here as to whether we can afford to buy a house!

I tried the search engine but couldn't find anything useful - it read IT as it and so pulled up any thread with the word 'it' in it!! I might just have been a bit dim with search terms though - it has been known! - I'll try again.

We'd also looked on the Seek website but there are hardly any with salaries attached so not realy any use either. Might have to phone a few agencies and get an idea that way I suppose.

In Wellington the range would really be $60k upwards, depending upon experience/specialist knowledge etc - Christchurch shouldn't be too different IMO.
