I know there's a website where you can put the gross Australian salary in and it'll tell you roughly what you'll be left with after taxes etc.

Anyone know of a similar site for New Zealand?

It works out what Gross Pay you need after you input Net costs, so it works out the taxes....but I guess it is a very rough estimate (I checked by putting in my net weekly pay and it calcualted very close to my Gross annual salary)

It is very simple to calculate. Go to www.ird.govt.nz and it will give you all the tax rates liable in nz. You are charged from the 1st cent so its real easy.

Its roughly something like 19.5% up to $38k, 33% for then next teir which is up to about $60k and then a top rate of 39% from then on in. There is also a few % deducted for ACC..our nat.ins. I am self employed as a cleaner and pay 4.5% ACC levy..slightly less I think if you are on PAYE. Look at www.acc.govt.nz.
