Default importing a car from japan

Has anyone imported a car from japan as opposed to buying a japanese import from a car yard?? if so how have you found the experience? I have been told it is very easy and you can basically save about 25% (based on spending 20k) by doing it yourself.

Any comments would be welcome

I bought mine at the auction and it was cheap as chips any way...about half of what it would have been at a dealer

Having brought a motorbike in from the uk i'd say its
a lot of messing for a couple of grand saving.
As said, go to an auction or bide your time and wait for the
right car at the right price to come along.
