Default Important documents

We have the packers arriving on Monday, but what did you do with your banking and saving documents. Did you send these docs in the container or did you take them with you in the plane

Or has anyone them sent them via the mail, if so did you use the post office?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated as time is a ticking and I am currently brain dead

Funnily enough I was just on about this to OH. We are going to take important docs on the plane with us in our hand luggage.

The only documents we bought with us were

birth certificates
marriage certificate
driving licences (both parts)
insurance no claims proof
red books for kids
school reports for both girls
approval letter for immigration
UK mortgage statement
Immigration medicals ( OH comapny wanted his instead of having another medical done)
Consultant letters for me
travel insurance documents

We actually took photocopies of it all and carried a set each in our hand luggage & left a copy of passports with parents too.

Just a note on one other we took that was useful, especially if you're planning to rent when you get here - and that's some personal refs, ideally if you've got a mate whose a solicitor, police officer, company director etc - get a character ref from them - our rental agent asked for these as supplementary evidence when applying for our first rental, although probably strictly not necessary if you fall in love with a rental that half a dozen other families want then it all helps.

good advice - we also managed to wangle a reference from the manager of the motel we stayed at for the first week, simply to say that we paid up and left the place clean - did as one of the two that we needed for the rental!
