There are many variables involved immigrating to New Zealand. I have no idea what the process or timetables are in Aussie.

You should first acquaint yourself with the steps in immigrating here to New Zealand. These are outlined here http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Catego...nd_Immigration

The form filling isn't that difficult. Follow all the steps and be methodical and logical and you'll be fine. There is no need to give an agent thousands to fill in forms for you.

From the sounds of it you will need to get a job offer to qualify via the Skilled Migrant Category (SMC). You may want to go to any expos that are held in your locality or even fly out here to New Zealand to interview.

As far as costs go -- it ain't cheap, bro. With medicals, immigration fees and assorted nonsense you are looking at several thousand GPBs. You can add in flights, shipping goods and a horrendous amount if you want to bring Fido or Fluffy. Think between ten thousand to fifteen thousand to get here with permanent resident visas and furniture. If you can do it cheaper, bonus!

Sparkies seem to be in demand, so good move on your part.

The answer to that depends on your own personal tastes.
