Ikea
So, you can get Ikea stuff in NZ - it's not cheap though! This company take orders and go to Ikea every month, fill a container and bring it back here. You can even ask them to pick up a catalogue for you.

It's been tried before but never seems to last, just be careful as there have been other similar outfits that have turned out to be dodgy, stuff promised and never arrived etc. One particularly dodgy one went out of buisness and restarted, which makes me a bit suspicious as you can't be sure who you're dealing with.
Although I don't know anyone that's used them there's one 'myflatpack.co.nz' or something similar that specialises in Ike@ kitchens and supposedly has a showroom too in Auckland somewhere.

I bought a load of Ikea recently my son did the shopping for me & I shipped it over, cost Au $580 for shipping including pick up from Ikea Qld & deliver to shipping company & then deliver to me in Auckland. Was worth the exercise.

Re: Ikea
$580 just for P&P is rather a lot isn't it? There used to be loads of Ikea things on Trade Me, that's where I'd start, or I'd bring it back as part of my baggage allowance
Talking of Ikea I hear there's a second store planned for Brisbane soon (remember the original Ikea in Brisbane when it was a lot smaller than the present one?) Apparently the new store will be a mega sized offering somewhere north of the city - most likely near to North Lakes. There'll also be a Costco there too.
Hmmm....North Lakes is suddenly looking increasingly attractive

I'm dying for an Expedit bookcase but they're quite expensive. Plus shipping from Auckland is $105.
