If you went down to Paraparaumu beach this morning this is what you could have seen!...................orca whales................truly amazing!!!!

Absolutely stunning. We have seen dolphins a few times, once getting within about 3 metres but never orcas. I am just a little jealous.

It was very awe inspiring. I was actually in bed when a friend rang to say he was on the beach watching them, you've never seen me jump out of bed as quick. I never even washed or brushed my teeth, just went straight to the beach!

Were the pics taken from a boat with the beach in the background?.
The pics are very good ,do Orcas visit there often.

I was there this afternoon, first time I've been there. Nice long beach.

No Orcas when i was there, but why's the beach strewn with wood and bark?

It comes down the rivers and out to sea during floods.
After the 2004 flood there were miles and miles of turnips and onions, pine trees, farm gates, hay bales and dead cows and sheep.

Great time for scavenging but the wood is useless for firewood because of the salt.

How amazing! It's also one of the areas we are looking at - hv you any advice or info on the area? Is there much call for carpenters?

Hi Danny .Most days you will see a fat Orca local lying on the beach with people throwing fish to them ,get off the beach the tides waiting to come in is the shout.Nature here is rare so make sure you see the real thing .

Really jealous cos the only thing i get to see at my local beach is great big turds and used condoms
