ID for domestic flights?
Has anybody flown the WLG/AKL route since xmas? I was wondering if they have started to check IDs since security has increased again at international airports, or if it's still unchecked on domestic flights?

It's perfectly possible to not actually talk to anyone when checking in with Air NZ so no, ID isn't always necessary.
HOWEVER, each airline on that route (Air NZ, Pacific Blue, Jetstar) retain the right to ask you for ID. So carry something.

Re: ID for domestic flights?
We have flown Tauranga to Christchurch via Auckland & Wellington no problems but only hand luggage. We even took sandwiches etc.
When returning to the UK we fly Tauranga-Auckland with check in & hand luggage still no problem.

I recently flew AKL to CHC and back with Pacific Blue and Jetstar and despite even taking my kids' passports, we were not asked for any ID
