Any thoughts on best deals for buying a new telly? Cheapy job from the Warehouse or something a bit better from Harvey Norman/Bond & Bond etc??

Had a look on Trade Me but still part of me finds buying electrical goods second hand on the net a bit of a worry!!

Hi, have you got old one to trade in? some shop,harvey norman or smith city are giving $500 trade-in. I got a $200 telly when we arrived, got it from warehouse and its still going! Good luck

I would hate to tar all warehouse tvs with the same brush but i know two people with their cheapest brand who find that when they put something heavier than a remote control on the TV (coffee cup, plant, book etc) they get a patch in the corner of their TV where the item is placed!!

It is actually quite funny. Not for them though...

Do you have "Appliance Shed" down there - some of their stuff is pretty good as a "stop gap" - all top brands and a reasonable price if you know what you want.
HD Freeview is ace - might be worth saving the cents for a HD-ready panel??
Otherwise CRTs (old-style TV boxes) are good for bright conditions (NZ living rooms!).
Go and hagggle in a couple of the big name stores - or how about JB HiFi - seem like Richer Sounds are good value too!!

Well I got a Toshiba DVD player in Farmers for $70, which was cheaper that the cheapest nastiest one the Warehouse had in stock!

Still shopping around for TV's though
