Humour in a bleak situation...
I know how terrible this has been for the people of Christchurch but one local resident still has his sense of humour intact. The comments are rather funny too.

You have to keep the humour going, its what gets so many people through. People often think emergency/disaster workers have a very black sense of humour, and sometimes it seems like we almost don't care, but thats not the case, its just our way of dealing with the black stuff. We always get fabulous pics of "House open for Inspection" and similar signs after cyclones in north Queensland. Thanks for the link - I shall send it round work tonight!!

Could I possibly love New Zealand anymore than I already do!

Shag Rock has featured in our trip to NZ back in 2007 and my OH and Son had their photo taken in front of it Xmas Day 2010 to send back to me. It's sad that it has been destroyed but on my first phone conversation with my Son after the earthquake, I did have a wry smile when he referred to it as Shag Pile!

It's brilliant. Just wondering which room I could put it in to show it off to it's best advantage.

The 'owner' has given NZ Radio and TV interviews and the total amount bid so far (as I write this) is: $7000. A kind person added a bonus offer with the auction of a stay on Norfolk Island.
The questions and answers are really funny and show the spirit of Cantabrians and New Zealanders.
