HRV
We've got a HRV system installed that I'm pretty happy with. I'm getting them in to "service" the system and change the filters ($220). Being a tight fisted northerner I trust no one. Any advice or experience in dealing with HRV that anyone could give would be great - I'm expecting some hard sell/sharp practices.
I'm also interested in a heat recovery kit - the log burner kicks out too much heat for a small living room - any one with experiences of the HRV heat recovery system, or do I buy one from Bunnings and have my sparky fit it for $300?
Thanks in advance knowledgeable expats!

Re: HRV
They're ridiculously aggressive salesmen. I had to ask a salesman to leave my house last year as he was so over the top.
I'm pretty sure the warranty only applies if you replace your filters with them every year for the first 3 years.
The heat transfer system is usually straightforward and is a bolt on to your current system. I could be wrong here.

The HRV filters are a 2 year change and apparently are available on Trade me and easy to fit.

Cheers, I've seen the filters at $65 each. I'm keen to see what else the "service" includes. My gut feeling a filter change, a 5 second checkover and then the chance to upsell.

We've an HRV system here, so far only seen the panel on the wall and the ceiling vents. Appears to run okay. Following your guidance and money saving thoughts, I'll have look at the filters and see if they are easy to change.
