HOW MUCH MONEY
 

Hi all when we eventually move to New Zealand we will have to rent a house and we will only have about 15 to 20 thousand UK pounds to bring with us do you think this will be enough to see us through the first 6 months untill i am also able to find work as well.

Hello Tony, we came and intially only converted enough money for $25,000 NZ dollars. We found jobs that allowed us to pay much of our way, but were six months before we had enough income to meet our expenses. We went through about $12,000 of this money but that also included the purchase of a car of about $6,000. So, yes, you will be fine. Come to Rangiora, it is so much fun.

If you can change your 20k gbp pretty soon you will be looking at $54k.

Tony I had a client that when she and husband arrived it was to start a new life for them and the kids as they had so much money troubles back in the uk after he arrived he had changed his money all down and all they had was $15.000 dollars and a car was required thats was back a in 2005 he has done well still renting, but are saving like mad to get a deposit for a house so as you can see many arrive with not a lot!!! you can do it:thumbsup:

Wow thank you all for your replies we feel good knowing that we will be ok with what we have any info on renting and where to rent would be appreciated we would like to be within 30 mins of Aukland coastal would be nice as we have our 3 year old son to consider.

Renting you will need
Up to 4 weeks bond
2 week rent paid in adance
1 week rent for the agents commission plus gst if you go through a real estate company
and the cost of setting up Electricity and phone lines
