Anyone get lucky with the petrol today? I filled up at $1.509 - gutted I couldn't quite squeeze in $40 otherwise I would have got 6 more cents off

$1.599 per litre for petrol last week. On Sunday, it was $1.799. How can it go up by 20c per litre within 2 days without any comment on the news ?
In Britain they only comment in a news bulletin on the price of petrol when it goes up. In NZ, they're only interested in it when the price goes down.

I was talking to someone from Oman the other day and she said the low price is starting to have quite a negative impact over there. I'm not sure when they last had a recession but jobs are being lost and companies are closing down.
I am enjoying filling the car and Land Rover with the low priced fuel though, its saving us around $30 every time we fill the car and nearly $50 for the Land Rover compared to 18 months ago.

Sort of a petrol contango really. The problem is I don't have any storage options to fully take advantage of the benefit of forwards pricing, sure I can fill the car and lawn mower can.

When I was last in Rotorua I saw folk queueing up with trailers full of cans and the like to fill with cheap petrol. I guess people are storing it in their sheds and garages .... wouldn't want to live next door to a fuel stock piler
