You have one year to enter NZ from the date your PR visa is issued. You may enter if you need to and return home and then come back before two years are up from your date of first entry. This is possible becuase you will also be given a returning resident visa that is valid from two years of your first entry. You may therfore land, leave and come back.. However, you will not be able to get a second returning resident visa unless you have established ties, become a tax resident and so forth. You would have to wait up to 18 months if you came, left and then came back at the end of two years and wanted to leave again or go out of NZ on holiday.
