How easy to move from NZ to OZ?
Just a tentative question if someone can help please. Once citizenship has been achieved in New Zealand, can it be transferred across to Oz more easily than applying there from the UK. Our background is we had a permanent residency visa for Oz which has expired as our finances just ran out and there were several other major issues which made the move not happen. OH, the main applicant, has now passed 50 and is therefore too old to apply for the visa again, whereas the limit I believe for NZ is 55. Now before people think negatively of my post, it isn't a case of us just wanting to "use" NZ to get to Oz as NZ is somewhere we have seriously thought of moving to anyway. It's just that if it didn't work out there, we would have a backup plan. We have no desire to see out our days here in the UK. Cheers.

Once you are a New Zealand citizen you can live in Australia as a temporary resident but in order to gain permanent residency (and eventually citizenship) you would have to meet the same requirements as any other applicant.

No, citizenship can't be transferred.

Once one gains the right to remain indefinitely, it is five years from then before one can apply for NZ citizenship.
Requirements for a Grant of New Zealand Citizenship
You can get New Zealand citizenship by grant if:
you already have the right to be in New Zealand indefinitely (you're a permanent resident of New Zealand or Australia, or you’re Australian)
you’ve lived here for at least the last 5 years and had the right to be in New Zealand indefinitely the whole time
you intend to keep living here
you speak English, and
you're of good character.
Once you're a citizen, you can live in New Zealand indefinitely, travel on a New Zealand passport and stand for parliament. You'll have to follow our laws, enrol to vote and pay taxes.
