How do I get my football fix?
Now, I'm not a big football fan but I have to say, I am missing match of the day in particular and even the champions league. Can't afford SKY until I send my wife out to work lol, so what are the options? Does freeview do a highlights programme that I am unaware of?
I can get iplayer through my laptop - is there a way to record MOTD? Or what o people try?
Thanks in advance.

Last year TV One had a highlights show on a Monday night, they might still be doing that. Premier Pass is about $150 for the season, for all the games, hook your laptop up to the tv. I think they might have a highlights package on line as well.

Whatever you do, don't get SKY. I think they only have Champions League live on now, that's not worth the vast amount they charge.

I've watched a few games via here without much issue, you have to be patient and work your way through getting rid of all the adverts and rubbish, but it does work

Once you get a Samsung Smart TV and change the country settings you'll be able to watch MOTD, MOTD2, MOTD Extra, Football League show on BBCiPlayer. There's a freeview sports channel called Sommet Sports, on there they have live Europa League, live Football League, Scottish league, some delayed prem games, Bundesliga, England internationals and some other football. Now, NZ leads the way in Premiership coverage, through an online service for $150 a year you can watch every single Prem match in HD live or delayed, it's a total bargain.

Yeah. Just google 'change samsung tv location' and find the appropriate guide to your tv model. I have an f-series tv and the instructions were pretty simple.
You might need to mask your internet connection, that's unless your ISP is either Slingshot or Orcon. If you're with telecom, Vodafone etc sign up with Trickbyte, it's a few dollars a month.

Re: How do I get my football fix?
Yep, and there is a trick to it to save a little moolah.
Sign up while the tournament is on and then cancel it afterwards. You have to keep any of the Sky add on subscriptions for a month.
I sign up in November for the autumn internationals and then again Feb/March for the 6 Nations.
Although last season I kept it running and watched quite a bit of the closing weeks and rounds of the Aviva Premiership and Heineken Cup.
Or, you can usually find a pub somewhere. But that means a late night/early rise!!

Separately amusing how the rugby fans refer to northern and southern hemisphere's to make the game appear global, when in reality it's just UK and France, and NZ, Aus and SA.

Re: How do I get my football fix?
iPlayer has not been working on my Samsung SmartTV for a few months now; I've tried everything; re-installed iPlayer, reset TV to factory setting and then changed country etc. iPlayer gets audio but video is just scrambled lines. Other UK TV is working (4OD, ITV etc) so I know it's not a regional block at play.
Any suggestions?
