Yeah, doom and gloom about covers the mood in our house as we wait to sell. We've had lots of viewings, and lots of stupid feedback, like they wanted 4 bedrooms not 3, or 2 reception rooms, or it was in the wrong location.

WHY THE *%$# come and look at the house then?!?!?! It's not going to miraculously sprout another room or shuffle into a better area in between reading the specs on Rightmove and coming to view it .

I have to get a taxi home from work, hoover and tidy like a mad thing for each and every one of these numpties.

We have had one offer... for £170k. The house is up for OIRO £210k . Cheeky bar-stewards.

Same here, but we've decided if we are granted PR we are going to rent our house. Not ideal but it's all we can do.

I think you are right - if you get PR rent there and then rent here and ride it out. Obviously hoping your rent covers your mortgage?

It's not ideal, but then before the property bubble burst, some people chose to do this to keep the option open to return if things didn't work out here.

Thumbs up Re: House to sell...

Hi everyone we decided to put our house on the market for 5 months .If after that we could not sell we would rent and not give up. Just rent a house out there till it all blows over. You get a 3 or 4 year tax break on money entering the country for new migrants. So this would work quite well.
But after a few days on sale our house has sold hopefully!!
So good luck with everything.
regards Di

sounds about the same drop in value as our house, there does seem to be "sold" signs around, but ar e they real or just put there by cynical Estate agents, who knows

We are going to put the house on the market in the next week or two and we haven't even received our ITA yet!

Spent this afternoon mixing concrete to tidy up the edges of the drive - I never expected our decision to emigrate to involve hard labour

The estate agents (lawyers up here in Scotland) tell us that the market is starting to pick up. Mind you when did you ever trust an estate agent or a lawyer.

Wouldn't it be a laugh if we sold before we got PR!

we are the same.. havent got the visa through yet but we need or really want to sell the house before we go as could use the equity to set us up over there. Dont really want to rent it out but we know we'll have to if we dont get an offer soon. Is it possible to rent your house out & have it on the market at the same time?

Yes you can have it on to do both, just take whatever comes first.
Weve had house on market since June 8 viewings and still nothing. Like alot on here we need equity and visa expires very soon so have decided to look at re-applying if house eventually sells.
Good luck to all those in the same boat.

Don't get me started about real estate agents. They are a say anything to get the sale - sorry that should read commission - breed of - well ****ers.

We are in the same position as some of you and we are getting the sales pitch daily.

I know how u feel!

We are in the same boat!!! All trying to reach the same shores lol

There have been houses in our area which have been on the market for 2 years... and still nothing!!!

Like others, we need to sell the house in order to set up our new lives in NZ. We are planning to wait a few months and see how the market goes. If we manage to sell, we can move in with my parents until our visas are sorted!

I know it will be a nightmare, back with parents, but they have enough space and seems the best option!

Good luck to all trying to sell... hopefully things will pick up soon

We are also in the same boat.

Two weeks ago we recieved our PR stickers, Yippeee, but our house has still not sold despite dropping it over £20,000.

We have decided to make our deadline as the end of August when we will ship our furniture over and we fly out to NZ but still leave the house on the market with my eldest stepdaughter having 'Power of Attorney'. We will be staying with family in Murrays Bay until our house sells and we are able to buy our own.

Not the ideal solution but as we are both retired we felt we should just get on with life and GO FOR IT!!!!

So, good luck to all of you wanting & longing to make that scary & exciting move to NZ, hope it all starts to happen for all of us sooooon.

You are so lucky!
The family we have left in the UK I wouldn't trust to mow our lawn! [if we had one]
