Assuming they have the same solstice and equinox dates here that we had in the UK, then let's not forget that this is still late spring! What on earth is summer going to be like?

That's Wellington for you. We also froze in Wellington last year. This year it's been amazing in the Waikato. I really can't believe the difference. Spent today on the beach at Mt Maunganui which was gorgeous.

I am really, really hoping we have seen the back of the incredibly long winter and are finally making into some sort of summer weather ,although I known we have the further rains to come.

It has been glorious - spent the last 3 days on the beach. Only downside was the jellyfish that seem to have come in - oh and a shark ...

The weekend weather was fab. . Today is overcast which I quite like TBH as it means no sunglasses on the nose or hat on the head. It's still warm enough for shorts and t shirt.

A shark recently beached itself at Mapua.
We didn't see it but heard about it afterward.

I take it the shark was dead.

The weather will still be all over the place for a while yet. On Saturday I took the kids to the beach. The wind was warm, but the water was freezing. Yesterday, the temperature dropped and we lit the fire for a little while to take the chill off. Raining and cold today down south.

Well I went to Kapiti Island (off the Kapiti Coast near Paraparaumu for those still learning the areas!) and I got a very nasty sunburn.

I love the sun and basically turn into a sluggish lizard in the sun. But I was not a happy camper to find out I had been burned.

For anyone coming....beware... the sun here burns.
