Home brew is awesome!
On a happy note, after nearly 5 years here in Christchurch I've got a new hobby - home brewing. I've been blown away by how good home made beer can be over here and have got into making my own in a big way. My front garden is now home to my little brew house complete with rimu paneling and london brickwork. Just put down a red ale over the weekend, nearly 50 pints for around $23. The days of terrible hygiene and homebrew being a bit grubby are relegated to memories of my father making terrible lagers from cans in the UK.
Christchurch has a really big homebrew scene with some very talented guys and girls. If anybody is new here and wants to find out whats going on locally or try a beer, feel free to PM me.

MrF used to do home growing at home and was very happy that it is widely done over here, unfortunately due to work commitments he has not had the time to indulge or join local groups. He did try a banana beer last Christmas and it was awful, mind you he didn't listen when I told him he shouldn't of put the skins in

Gave brewing and wine making up when booze became so cheap in the supermarkets.
Still got all the gear in the shed, though...
