Default Holiday in N.Z. - Where to Go

Coming out to Christchurch for our daughters wedding end of November. We will obviously look around the area but then want to go to the North Island. Is there anywhere that is good for snorkelling?

Goat island would be the tourist choice, a marine reserve 1 half hours outside Auckland.

I'll second that - there are some amazing fish in the reserve and the water is usually very clear.

Brilliant, thanks. I live on a beautiful white sandy beach in Southern Spain but it is washed by the Atlantic which is fantastic for surfers but not so good for just swimming or snorkelling. Spent a holiday on the Whitsundays years ago and got the bug.
