We are at the selected from EOI stage and waiting for them to send the ITA- With a view to going to NZ next yr. With over 2000 posts you must either have a lot of info you can share with us or were good at trivia chat in the 'barbie'/ 'bar' :D We look forward to your posts! |
Re: Hi, Im not new here
Cheers I will start in order :)
1. Do you have a visa yet? Nah. Just been been talking about it. Again. The missus changed her mind just before the birth of our second a couple years ago  You know. This counrties in a mess and will only get worse for the kids ect. so why not? 2. We are at the selected from EOI stage and waiting for them to send the ITA- With a view to going to NZ next yr. Well I hope it goes smoothly for you. My missus is an ODP so if we do decide to go then hopefully it should be pretty straightforward. 3. With over 2000 posts you must either have a lot of info you can share with us or were good at trivia chat in the 'barbie'/ 'bar' :D God no. My finger got stuck on the enter key and I just kept hitting it :D Well I used to be pretty keyed up but I suspect things have changed somewhat. 4. We look forward to your posts! We'll soon see :p :D |
Re: Hi, Im not new here
I think once you get it into your head that you want to emigrate, it's like an itch you can't stop scratching until you do it. :) Welcome back :D

Re: Hi, Im not new here
Hello Jack Daws, yis I remember you from the last time you were thinking about NZ.
You have to try a place yourself don't you, no amount of info from other folk will be able to tell you how it's going to be for you. Which part of NZ are you thinking of moving to? |

We are (well I am  ) thinking of getting my parents to look after the kids for a couple of weeks after xmas and maybe having a pop over on a scouting mission/holiday in a campervan thingy :scared: |

Im in the Garden City  ... actually we're on the outskirts, we're renting in Rangiora and have bought land even further away now to build our own home.
Fantastic country, beautiful views, gorgeous smells, awesome beaches but bloody cold indoors :D |

Fantastic country, beautiful views, gorgeous smells, awesome beaches but bloody cold indoors :D Building your own pad. Nice. Always fancied that my self. Done a barn conversion a couple of years ago which I enjoyed, except the going £60k over budget :scared: I have a couple of Q's for you: Are you enjoying it? Would you do it again? If so what would you change? Cheers |
Re: Hi, Im not new here
Are you enjoying it?
Not at the moment in this cold rental but the weather is getting sunnier and that always improves the mood doesn't it. Would you do it again? Yis I just wish we could do it all again with the knowledge we've learnt along the way If so what would you change? I wouldn't buy a house again ..... buy land and build your own. Don't be talked into anything by the kiwis, they are not looking after your best interests they are just after your money. |

PS Thanks for the replies. I specialise in selling sections in Wellington - prices from $250k-$400k. Size doesn't necessarily equate to price, more dependent on how easy it is to build, how much of land is usable - there's a lot of very steep land here in Wellington! A bit further out, say, Johnsonville or Tawa, sections can be found from $150k-180k. Build costs for the house probably $1200 - $2500 per m2, dependent on quality - if you're building on anything other than flat land, out of ground costs can add up. Design & Build is a good option - I've got sections in Aotea - 20-25 minutes drive from Wellington City, 400m2 section, house 180-195m2, all-in price from $410k - you are then in control of designing the house and get exactly the accommodation and facilities you want. |
