Re: Hi Everyone
Hi Richard, we have our flights booked for Tauranga, leaving later this month.
Have you been for a visit? we did in May and took our 6 year old daughter too, she really enjoyed the visit and we were able to visit a primary school which really helped her get used to the idea of moving. We were really pleased that the area looked as good in reality as on all those pictures we had looked at.
We found that the medical stuff took longer to arrange, and get back than we originally thought, but I was able to move back the start date for my job. We found the NZ immigration people really efficient, hope you find the same!. we recieved e- mails to let us know what was going on which was great. your boys must be very exited about the move, are they sporty? the school our daughter will start in has said in the summer term our teams play volleyball and cricket, well volleyball she's played once and she's had a bit of practice with cricket on the beach in N Wales!, anyway time to get MORE packing jobs done.

Re: Hi Everyone
Hi, you must be excited
I am hoping to visit Tauranga early November but not able to bring the boys
How did you chose the school? I understand there is a decile score but this appears to be more reginal than area specific
The boys love sports, swimming, cubs, canoeing etc.
Hope all goes well with your move!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Hi Everyone
Richard,
the decile score rates the wealth of the school's catchment area. It is not necessarily an indicator of the quality of the school, more the quality of the surrounding housing.
We picked a school by the simple method of looking up the one closest to where we will be renting. However, we did check that the school seemed OK before accepting the property!
If you look on this site http://www.tki.org.nz/e/schools/grap..._City&postal=1, you will see a list of all the schools in the area. By clicking on a school, you can see more info, and also find a link to ERO reports (similar to our OFSTED's) for each school. Well worth looking at!
Hope this helps,
Ant (Sue's OH!)
