hgv jobs
hi all.
My wifes sister lives in New Plymouth(taranaki) and last year i tried moving over with my family but unfortunately never had enough points because my job skills were not needed. She emailed me the other day to say that HGV driver is on the immediate list and hopefully is our ticket to start a new life. Ive sent my cv over to my sister in law to pass around people she knows in the industry but was hoping that someone on here would have any other ideas or knows of any companies recruiting??
many thanks
shaun

Re: hgv jobs
it does seem to be on the ISSL list
Transport Truck Driver (General) (733111) NZ recognised Full Class 5 Driver Licence and three years experience driving heavy combination vehicles with a gross combined weight of more than 25,000kg All regions
but please note this may only allow you a temp visa
Immediate Skill Shortage List
The Immediate Skill Shortage List (sometimes referred to as the ISSL) includes occupations where skilled workers are immediately required either throughout New Zealand or in certain regions. It facilitates the approval of temporary work visa applications. If you apply for a work visa based on an offer of employment in an occupation that is included on the Immediate Skill Shortage List and you meet the requirements specified in the list, Immigration New Zealand will recognise there are no New Zealand citizens or residents available to take up the position. This removes the need to conduct a ‘labour market test’, enabling faster processing of the application.
If you are granted a work visa based on an occupation on this list, then you can only stay in New Zealand temporarily. You won’t necessarily be able to apply for residence.
check out the usual places, trademe and seek

Not sure if the logging/timber companies are recruiting but there's plenty of the monster trucks on the road, you may wish to try them as a first thought.

Hello and welcome!
I'll just give you some information on visas in addition to MrsF.
Being on the ISSL means that an employer can offer you a job without needing to prove that no NZers are available. You would be issued a temporary work visa only. These can be renewed as long as truck driver remains on the ISSL. It is not a means to stay permanently and there have been cases where people have lived in NZ for many years only to be deported when their job went off the ISSL.
You cannot gain points on an EOI for a job on the ISSL, it is for LTSSL only.
Unfortunately truck drivers are classed as skill level 4 which means you cannot apply under the SMC anyway (this visa is for levels 1,2 and 3 only)
This means the only route to residency is via the WTR (accredited employer) route. You would have to gain a job with an accredited employer paying at least $55,000 pa worked out on a 40 hour week, you cannot include overtime etc. This can be difficult to get as a truck driver though there was a post recently where the poster claimed to know someone who had managed it through Fonterra.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it is very difficult to get residency as a truck driver

Re: hgv jobs
Just checked the NZIS website and truck drivers will be coming off the ISSL on the 24th March this year. You can still get a job offer and apply for a work visa, however NZIS will do a labour Market test to make sure that the employer has advertised correctly and that they cannot hire a NZer.
You will probably have to concentrate on the accredited employer route. Which is the only way to a permanent visa anyway.

Truckers are coming off the Immediate Shortage list .
2 year Work To Residence through accredited employer is the only route. You would need the $55K pa for a 40 hr week. That is normally a specialised tanker driver rate.
Truck driving is not seen as skilled so you could not submit an application under the SKilled Migrant Category.

Re: hgv jobs
You asked about emigrating to NZ using your occupation as a truck driver. Having a sister in NZ would not help with that.
Always best to check with the actual New Zealand Immigration website.
As far as I am aware , the sibling and adult child category closed a while ago.
Please read HERE.
Also please read HERE <--- family categories.
You could also browse HERE on the official NZIS website to see what visa options you have
