Here we come
Ive recently had a job offer and relocation package, christchurch here we come. First months accom is provided, am I right in peoples experience that I will need circa $2k for a rental bond? Im looking at riccarton, does anyone suggest anywhere else? My work place will be based in this area and until I get a car is it worth looking elsewhere?
My 15 yr old stepson is coming along, so wondering if its easy to join groups or sports teams, he mixes easy in the uk.

Rendesvous on Rattray is a good self catering b&b, it's in Rattray Street, Riccarton. If your employer is sorting your first month's accommodation then you probably won't need it.
However, the social centre of town migrated to Riccarton after the quakes. I don't know if that has pushed rents up too. We lived in Linwood in the east of Christchurch which was a ten to fifteen minute drive to Riccarton.
Other than that, just follow your nose and use your judgement !
Good luck, hope all goes well.
