Help re: accommodation in Wellington
Now then.
Can anyone recommend cheap accommodation in Wellington?
Just clean, secure and somewhere to sleep for one preferably quite central, just until visa is sorted and job begins, about three to four weeks would be good.
Cheers
Big Dave

Hi Dave,
if you check out The Dominion Post on line they usually have rentals and agencies advertised - I think Wednesday is the best day for property. Leaders real estate also do rentals.
Good luck!

Hubby stayed at the Apollo Lodge on Majoribanks St. Said it was OK, up a hill (there's a surprise!!) and not exactly central. He remembers that in tourist info. there were some serviced apartments on the Terrace that seemed as cheap - perhaps suit your needs better!
Good luck!!

Re: Help re: accommodation in Wellington
check www.trademe.co.nz as there was definitely a listing for a short term (one month) stay in a flat in wellington last time i checked it (yesterday afternoon)
The Cambridge Hotel on Cambridge Terrace is quite good. It has a range of rooms from Backpackers up to budget hotel rooms. The pub downstairs used to have a bit of a reputation but the current owner has spent a lot of time effort and $$$ making it nicer.
Its actually on a busy road (known where boy racers like to rev their engines) but I booked some staff into there on a Friday and Saturday night and they reported no problems whatsoever.

This is where we stayed for 4 weeks when we first came to Welly. The host is a lovely lady - we still keep in touch.

Hi,
one of my colleagues has had short term lodgers (Spackster stayed with her recently). She lives in Whitby which is about 20 - 30 minutes drive from Wellington, PM me or dannyf if you are interested and I'll put you in touch with her,
